Garland's Slow Walk into Political Oblivion
Garland's steep denialism, long learning curve and decided lack of vision could help hand the White House back to the GOP in 2024
The well written Washington Post story of the DOJ's very, very slow walk towards the main perpetrator and organizer of the January 6th insurrection, Donald Trump, certainly should neutralize nonsense by the GOP about a 'weaponized' DOJ. But I wonder if they will notice.
I wonder, too, if the especially more disturbed elements of the MAGA GOP will notice that Hunter Biden has entered into a plea bargain which acknowledges guilt on several charges. As much I want Trump to face a full trial and jury sentencing, which seems more likely with every word and admission of guilt he speaks, Trump and his so called legal team need to talk plea bargain with the DOJ. They may well already be doing just that Spiro Agnew did before them.
But DOJ’s ever slow walk, frankly, makes me absolutely sick to think how Garland's misguided reticence may also have destroyed this case politically. And that would be ironic inasmuch as DOJ’s ‘slow walk’ was intended to reduce further politicization. That plan by Garland clearly wasn’t nearly as well thought out as he, and others, may have realized. Garland has now politicized the criminal Trump so much more than if he had just pursued and naturally followed the legal and investigative issues as his lead prosecutors and DOJ team had tried to do.
Trump is a twice impeached, twice indicted, libel for sexual assault with repeated defamation and violent criminal insurrectionist. That Trump’s violent insurrection to overturn our Constitution seems to barely be identified has also been of great concern. Trump represents a deadly danger to this nation, to still increasing American on American violence and destabilizing our national security. Yet, for Garland’s ‘slow walk,’ he could potentially still wind up in the White House while his numerous trials continue to plod forward.
It was Comey's action just before the 2016 election with regards to improperly reopening then announcing an investigation of Hillary Clinton that directly helped hand Trump the White House. Garland's steep denialism, long learning curve and decided lack of vision could help hand the White House back to the GOP in 2024
